This half size card provides one serial port configurable as RS422 with and with-out hand-shaking, or RS485 full or half duplex. This card has on-board zener diodes giving transient spike protection to the inputs, making this card ideal for factory automation installations. The megabaud data transfer rates and the 128 byte deep FIFO, coupled with the RS485 Half Duplex Autogating guarantees uncompromising performance and fault-free use.
The PCI RS422/485 Velocity card uses the 16750 UART, two generations beyond the industry standard 16550. The UART clock can be set through software to provide maximum baud rates of either 921, 600 baud, 460, 800 baud, 230, 400 baud, or 115, 200 baud (standard PC).
