PRIMERGY BX connection blades simplify network connectivity for PRIMERGY BX blade servers, ensuring fast, reliable and flexible access to data and storage networks. All connection blades are integrated within the BX chassis and benefit from a high-speed midplane as well as from energy-efficient power and cooling. PRIMERGY BX900 system units support up to 8 connection blades, thus implementing flexible and scalable connections in order to meet the requirements arising from dynamic workloads.
Today's technological specifications offer speeds of up to 8 GB for Fiber Channel, 40 GB InfiniBand, and up to 10 GB for Ethernet connections per Uplink port. All the facets of connection blades are available, from highly functional self-developed models to brand models from Brocade or Mellanox; all feasible requirements can thus be met.
The InfiniBand switch 40 GB 18/18 is a double-width connection blade that can be used in the PRIMERGY BX900 S1. The connection blade offers maximum performance by providing a high bandwidth and at the same time low latency.
The hardware requires two horizontal slots at the rear of the blade chassis; up to three of the switches can be used in one housing. The switch with its total of 36 connections provides one of the highest densities in today's switch architectures. The connection blade supports Quad Data Rate (QDR x4) Infiniband and thus offers a bandwidth of up to 40Gb/s per port. The non-blocking architecture is used to support both adaptable and static routing so as to avoid or reduce any overloading.
