By offloading bar code generation to the printer's processor, server processing time and network traffic are reduced, lowering network traffic. Generating these bar codes algorithmically in the printer not only produces a better quality, more readable and more easily scalable bar code than sending bitmapped images from the application, it also reduces the size of print files. The Bar Code option supports more than 47 industry standard one-and two-dimensional bar codes, including MaxiCode and PDF417. With these options, users can create laser quality bar codes on demand. The Lexmark Bar Code Card can be combined with other Lexmark applications, such as Optra Forms, to substantially improve general workflow and the appearance of printed documents.
